Writers Workout
|
New term: Tues 18 Sept - 26 Nov 2013 - 10 weeks (excluding 27 Oct) This course is ideal for students of all levels. Through in class exercises, covering the basic tools of constructing narrative fiction - structure, theme, characterisation, dialogue and point of view - students will write and workshop pieces, from 6 sentences to flash/micro fiction, and short stories. We will work towards real submission deadlines and criteria, and you will be encouraged to submit your material to competitions and online literary journals. This course is exciting, fun, and a great place to develop your critical skills as well as your writing skills. By the end of the course you will have a portfolio of pieces and will have submitted to various competitions, forums and readings events. Most importantly you will develop a writing habit. Students can repeat the course to continue to build up their portfolio of short stories, or, if they feel ready to work on longer pieces may decide to graduate onto the Writers Workshop
